Where’s Julie – Finding the Key to your Heart
Mar 30th
It was a weekend of mingling and flirting with over 100 singles on Saturday evening at the Lock and Key Mixer with the men in search of finding the right key to fit match the women’s locks at The Office in Burbank. Several winners went home with terrific prizes and hopefully a few new friends were made along the way.
On Sunday, the quest to find the right key continued at NoWaitingDating’s Spring Fever Dance at the Hyatt Hotel in Westlake Village. I was on hand both evenings signing copies of The Perils of Cyber-Dating: Confessions of a Hopeful Romantic Looking for Love Online with both men and women baring their souls and contributing to both future Cyber Love Stories of the Week as well as a Peril of the Week or two.
It appeared everyone enjoyed both evenings and the ice breaking events were a huge success.

Cyber Love Story of the Week – Jennifer and Brad
Mar 27th
Jennifer and Brad originally met online on JDate®.com — the #1 Jewish social scenenine years ago. They had two great dates; lunch at Cafe Europa and then he took her to a Squeeze Concert. Jennifer initially thought that brad might be too old for her as she was 26 and he was 35.
The two stayed stayed friends, and would call each other on their birthdays and go out once or twice a year. In the summer of 2007 they both were in the same share in a Hampton weekend house. One weekend night they spoke at great length about relationships. The two agreed to go out on a date when the summer was over, but Brad got laid off from his job on Jennifer’s birthday, 9/11 and their date was delayed for several months.
It wasn’t until February, 2008 when Brad told Jennifer that he felt she was dating losers and that the age difference now was a non-event. Their first official date was in March, 2008 at Le Refuge on the upper east side.
Shortly after, Jen came down with pneumonia and Brad took care of her. The relationship progressed and the couple moved in together in January. They just celebrated their first anniversary as a couple and have started ring shopping.
Congratulations to Jennifer and Brad, our Cyber Love Story of the Week on CyberDatingExpert.com. It just goes to show you that sometimes it pays to stay friends with your cyber-dates, and that patience is a virtue.

A Night of Dr. Drew
Mar 25th
Dr. Drew Pinsky, host of syndicated radio show, “Loveline” and VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” along with his coauthor, Dr. Mark Young were at a book signing event in Los Angeles where they discussed their new release, The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism Is Seducing America.
Back from a whirlwind book launch trip in New York, we heard the details about the stars and their narcissistic behavior.
According to the two, from the first-ever study of narcissism among celebrities, there are seven key factors to be aware of which include the following:
1. Vanity
2. Exhibitionsism
3. Exploitativeness
4. Entitlement
5. Self-sufficientcy
6. Authority
7. Superiority
The two discussed classic cases including Paris Hilton, Lyndsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Anna Nicole Smith. It was noted how obsessed the children have become in watching these stars and sadly viewing them as role models to follow.
With social networking, twittering, and facebook walls becoming as common in one’s daily life as brushing your teeth, exploitation is not only acceptable, but for those ignoring these social networking sites, one can appear to be left behind. I guess we can thank the reality tv shows and the tabloids for aiding in this problem. Check out the book. It’s interesting and an eye-opener.
Cyber-Dating Tips for Spring Fever
Mar 24th
It’s the first week of Spring and Love is in the Air. Whether you are interested in a spring fling or finding that serious relationship in an online dating site, be open to all the possibilities. With the change of seasons comes a new attitude, both online and offline. With the stock market jumping up 500 points, and outdoor cafes filled with patrons again, it’s time to refresh that profile and jump back on the cyber-dating saddle.
With this in mind, here are a few Cyber-Dating Tips for those with Spring Fever and those who might benefit from the contagious effect.
1. Cyber-Dating Tip #1. Appearance counts online and offline. After all isn’t it your goal to turn that online romance into an offline relationship? Dress accordingly and “Spring For a New Dress” at 40% off the spring styles at bluefly.com. With prices this low, you can look fashionable and fun with a new first date attire.
2. Cyber-Dating Tip #2. For the men, try a new cologne to wear on your first online date. A woman may be drawn to that sexy scent of one of my favorites, Acqua Di Gio By Giorgio Armani For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.4 Ounces and accept that second date.
3. Cyber-Dating Tip #3. Turn on your webcam. Many computers come equipped with a built in webcam, or you can purchase one easily for $71.97 such as this one from Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (Black). Online dating sites such as Woome.com and SpeedDate.com are fun and flirty and allow you to communicate with someone where you can at least verify their physical authenticity in real time. This will prevent that disappointing look one received when the photos of their cyber-date don’t match up in person.
4. Cyber-Dating Tip #4. On a budget? Sign up for your *Free* 7 day trial memberships to Date.com and Matchmaker.com now available at CyberDatingExpert.com. Select a date or two and suggest meeting at a museum on the free admission day and have a casual picnic in the garden. Look through the calendar section of your local paper and ask your online date if they would like to go to a concert. There are many free concert performances that are just as enjoyable as those with the high priced ticket charge.
5. Cyber-Dating Tip #5. Respond to or write to 5 online personal ads a day for one week and see what happens. Check out who’s been checking you out or hotlisted you and email them and initiate the conversation. There may be a shy one out there who will be so flattered to see that the one they like might feel the same way as well.
And if you are lucky in love and meet the one online, please write to us at CyberDatingExpert.com and share your Internet dating story.

A Pat Allen Girl
Mar 23rd
I often refer to myself as a “Dr. Pat Allen” girl. Those who fall into that category know exactly what I mean as well as the best-selling author of Getting to ‘I Do’
herself who is a family and relationship therapist.
For over fifteen years, Dr. Pat Allen has been leading a Monday evening group in Los Angeles and now also has a weekly Wednesday evening group in Newport Beach, CA. I have attended these sessions and brought my girlfriends when they were in a relationship crisis, so they could go on stage and have a quick dose of the famed Dr. Pat Allen.
Does her theory on relationships work? You bet. I have a close girlfriend who has been happily married for fifteen years and still credits her success to attending Dr. Pat Allen’s Monday night lectures. Another friend who was involved with a married man who kept hoping he would become available went on stage at a Dr. Pat Allen lecture, and shortly there after was able to dump the unavailable man. She recently celebrated her ten year wedding anniversary and now has two beautiful children.
Besides the weekly lectures, Dr. Pat Allen has a monthly lecture called “The Art of Loving” in Century City. There are four different topics, and yes, I have attended them all.
The highlight for me in being a true “Dr. Pat Allen Girl” was when I attended her Weekend Retreat last year at Aldersgate in Pacific Palisades, CA. I checked into this weekend intensive with the goal of expediting the “oxytocin detox” process I was going through from a previous relationship which had ended. With a one-on-one intensive that went into the wee hours of the morning, I went home enriched, and no longer longed for the beau who had disappeared.
The good news for singles and couples, is that Dr. Pat Allen will be doing this annual Weekend Retreat again on October 2-4, 2009. The retreat is intended for all singles and couples who are open to learning and she will cover the physical and emotional aspects of being a spiritual person. In this retreat, You will learn how to ask for what you want and how to say “no” to what you don’t want as well as learning about how to analyze your dreams.
I believe in personal growth so we can be the best we can to attract the best love we can. Reverend Michael Beckwith from The Secret calls Pat ”A rare gift for our society.” Both Marianne Williamson and John Grey have been influenced by Pat Allen. Those who are fortunate enough to attend her retreat will be forever enriched.
