Ask the Cyber-Dating Expert Radio Show
Join me this Saturday, June 20, 2009 for a very special Father’s Day edition of Ask the Cyber-Dating Expert Radio show, with our featured Online dating site, SingleParentMatch.com.
Why Hasn’t He Proposed?
Have you ever found yourself in the terrible position where you have given the man of your dreams the big ULTIMATUM? Unfortunately, I did once, and yes it did backfire on me. Since that time, I learned my lesson well, and know it will never happen again.
While I was on a recent trip to New York, I had the pleasure of meeting Matt Titus and Tamsel Fadel, the authors of this terrific book, Why Hasn’t He Proposed?: Go from the First Date to Setting the Date. I love their style and thought I would share it with you in this month’s Reading Room on the Cyber-Dating Expert site.
Matt Titus and Tamsen Fadel are relationship experts and their book will hit home for many. They are happily married and the duo has appeared as relationship experts in Lifetime’s ”Matched in Manhattan.”
This book is this commonsense guide on if, when, and how you can get your man to pop the question.
In this book you will learn how to:
- Determine if he’s truly “Mr. Right”-or hopelessly “altarphobic”
- Figure out why he’s afraid to get married-and how to calm those fears
- Get him to propose without nagging, crying, or issuing ultimatums
- Start your relationship off on the right track
This guide is shows you the perfect, no-pressure way to take your love to the next level-with “he says, she says” insights, relationship “red flags,” long-term secrets for lasting success, and real-life stories from the author’s famous dating service. It even includes a relationship timetable that will tell exactly when to take the next step-straight down the aisle to the marriage of your dreams.
I recommend this book to readers, and wonder if my life might have been different if it was available years ago. But then again, life is filled with lessons learned.
Enjoy!
Vintage Hollywood with Jay Leno
I recently attended the annual Vintage Hollywood Charity event benefiting Children’s Action Network at a private home in Brentwood on the west side of Los Angeles. Several of my favorite restaurants including Sushi Roku, The Tavern, James Beach, and Whist at the Viceroy were there serving some of their signature dishes. I especially enjoyed the crayfish waffles served by The Buffalo Club in Santa Monica.
Many wineries were on hand including Cielo in Malibu which will be opening their wine tasting room later this year for private parties.
I had the chance to say hello to Evan Handler, best known as Charlotte’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt in the television series and movie, Sex and the City as well as his current SHOWTIME program, Californication with David Duchovny. I personally thanked him for his encouragement last year when I started writing my first book, The Perils of Cyber-Dating, when we met at his book signing for It’s Only Temporary, hosted by the Young Literati of the Council for the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.
The highlight of the evening was Jay Leno’s live auction where he chuckled with the crowd about auctioning off the one hour voice lesson with Kristen Chenoweth, where he promised a “Happy Ending” as well as tickets to the 2010 finale of Dancing with the Stars. Several individuals made bids for the one hour private tour of Jay Leno’s garage. Jay graciously accepted everyone’s bids for a total of $30,000 to benefit Children’s Action Network. What a nice guy, right? After the live auction, I said hello to Jay and his lovely wife Mavis and let them know that Jay was mentioned in my book under “The Men of Harley Davidson.” Mavis, got a chuckle out of it!

Love Potions – Mariel’s Blisscuits
How would you like your life to be filled with bliss? Or at least have you and your loved one’s tummy filled with Mariel Hemingway’s Blisscuits? Mariel shares her special recipe in her new book, Mariel’s Kitchen: Simple Ingredients for a Delicious and Satisfying Life.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups almond meal
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons whey protein isolate powder
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon Xylosweet
1/2 cup finely shredded coconut
3 tablespoons coconut flour
2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/4 teaspoons xanthan gum
1 cup coconut oil
3 large egg whites
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon almond extract
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 300-degrees Farenheit. Cover two large baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Place all dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix together well. In a medium bowl, whisk together coconut oil, egg whites, and vanilla and almond extracts. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix together well.
3. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into 2-inch squares. Or form into 2-inch patties, 1/4 inch thick, with your hands. Place on prepared baking sheets and bake until golden, 15-20 minutes.
4. Let cool before storing in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to a month.
Suggestion from Mariel: “Divide dough into 1-cup amounts and wrap tightly in plastic wrap, then in foil. Blisscuit dough can be frozen for up to 2 months. This way you can defrost a cup at a time and bake fresh Blisscuits whenever you like.”
Love Potion was generously contributed by Mariel Hemingway.

Cyber Love Story of the Week – Joanne and Rick
During a recent trip to New York City, I got together with this lovely couple, Joanne and Rick. The two met on JDate®.com — the #1 Jewish social scene just a few months ago. However, Joanne vividly remembers Rick contacting her over a year ago on the same site, but they never connected.
Rick had been single for seven years and had been cyber-dating on-and-off on the Jewish Online Dating site JDate. Basically, he was a serial dater. Joanne is a single mother with three children and had been online dating for just a few years.
Prior to their first date, Rick secretly wrote a note to himself and on the piece of paper it said, “This will be my last, first-date.” He was so excited about the possibility of Joanne being “the one” that he didn’t hide this information from her, and told her what he had written in his note. Joanne was a bit skeptical, but that night at the diner in Long Island, a true connection was made between the two of them. Shortly thereafter, they happily removed their online dating profiles.
The two will be traveling to England this summer on a romantic vacation. According to Rick, Joanne is the one for him. Congratulations to Joanne and Rick, our Cyber Love Story of the Week, from your friends at CyberDatingExpert.com.

Getting Satisfaction from Internet Dating

Crain's New York Business
If you haven’t picked up a copy of Crain’s New York Business yet, see if you can find one quickly. I was quoted on June 7, 2009 under Expert Opinions with my online dating tips.
Here’s a sneak peek of what I recommended in my interview with Crains. To see the full story, log into their site at http://www.crainsnewyork.com
1. Online dating is a cost-effective way to meet new people.
2. It’s important to be authentic.
3. Don’t lie about your age, weight or height, and use real pictures.
4. Keep profile comments short and specific.
5. Your initial contact should be fun and flirty, and should refer to something particular you like about that person.
6. Find the time to actually date—don’t spend all your time on the computer.
7. There are lots of niche sites, so there’s really something for everyone.
