#1 Gift for Singles is a Date for the Holidays
Nov 29th
Today on Cyber Monday, The New York Post published an article, Best Holiday Gift is a Date.
On a day where shopping frenzy is at an all time high, singles are more worried about finding a date. The Match.com poll mentioned in the article, showed that finding a date for the holidays is the number one stress for singles now.
Whitney Casey, Match.com‘s Relationship Expert and a recent guest on Ask the Cyber-Dating Expert Radio Show told the Post, “No one really wants to spend New Year’s alone,” Casey said.
Match says their traffic increases by almost 23 percent during the holidays. They claim that 59.5 percent of those polled said they’d prefer a kiss over a new laptop on New Year’s Eve.
As an online dating expert, I agree with their findings. My relationship coaching business has shown a huge spike since Halloween.
Remember, if you’re a single woman who wants to couple-up, there are many single men who feel the same way during the holidays.
I can help you find your dream date for the holidays and make it a better experience for you by creating your Irresistible online dating profile.

Peril of the Week – Diaper Dan
Nov 26th
While on a “Meet & Greet” i.e. dating ‘interview’ with a man she met online, a woman was asked the following question, “How open-minded are you?”
She responded by telling him that he should feel comfortable telling her anything. However, she wasn’t prepared at all for his response. He then shared with her that he was wearing a diaper.
The woman asked if it was for medical reasons, but he said, ”No.”
As they were taking a walk at the beach and he was the one who was driving, she really couldn’t get out of the date at the time. He was a good looking man and a top executive at his company. Although he was genuinely a nice guy, she simply couldn’t get over this particular quirk of his, so the ‘would be’ relationship actually ended before it even started. It was another dating disaster.
Do you believe we should be on a “need to know basis?” Did she really need to know this? Comments are always welcome.
Let us know if you have a story to contribute for our Peril of the Week.

Last Thanksgiving we featured Pecan Pumpkin Butter Pie, which is still one of my favorites.
This latest recipe comes from PecanPieRecipe.com and is a wonderful addition to our Love Potions.
This two-layer pie has a bottom layer of tender sweet potatoes, combined with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cane syrup and vanilla. The pecan pie filling is spread over the top with a garnish of whipped cream and chocolate curls.
Ingredients
1 Prepared Sweet Pie Crust
1 pound Sweet Potatoes, baked until fork tender, peeled and mashed
1/2 cup Pure Cane Syrup
1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated Nutmeg
5 Extra Large Eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 cups Pecan pieces
1/4 cup Light Corn Syrup
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed Light Brown Sugar
pinch Salt
Chocolate Curls
Sweetened Whipped Cream, accompaniment
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
2. Combine sweet potatoes, cane syrup, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon of the vanilla in a large mixing bowl.
3. Spoon sweet potato mixture into the unbaked pastry shell. Spread smooth.
4. Sprinkle pecan pieces onto the filling.
5. Beat 4 eggs in a large bowl. Add 1-teaspoon vanilla, corn syrup, sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
6. Pour egg mixture over pecans.
7. Bake 1 hour, or until pastry edges are golden brown, and filling is set.
8. Cool on wire rack. Allow 1 hour.
9. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack for 1 hour before serving.

Why Women Need to Contact Men Online
Nov 23rd
At a recent holiday party, I met a single woman who came up to me asking for dating advice. She has had an on-again, off-again relationship with online dating. She was explaining to me in great detail why Internet dating doesn’t work. All of the blame was put on the men, who either didn’t write back to her after one email exchange, or just didn’t write at all.
I asked her if she considered initiating contact with men she found interesting. Her response was, “Absolutely not.” She added, “I’m old fashioned and believe the men need to pursue the women.” When I pointed out that waiting around wasn’t working for her and suggested that she send one email a day to a man she found interesting, or who viewed her profile but was too shy to contact her, she said no. That wasn’t her style. While I agree that men like to pursue women, they get tired of rejection and trying sometimes a gentle nudge, wink, or flirt is good for the male ego. She was clearly unhappy being single.
The point is she may be missing out on meeting a terrific guy who is looking for a girl just like her. Think about it. There are millions of singles online. Sometimes they may pass over your profile. Perhaps they didn’t notice you, had met their daily quota of outbound emails, or started dating someone they wanted to focus on. For whatever reason, Mr. Right doesn’t always find you online. It’s a crowded landscape.
This woman had a good enough profile, but she wasn’t taking action with her life. Sitting around waiting might result in wasting your precious youth. This may sound harsh, but sometimes tough love needs to jump in and take over. I pointed out the importance of the initial week when your profile is brand new and suggested that she initiate a simple and very short email to one gentleman daily for a week so she can get in the habit of being proactive.
After all, sometimes looking for love online is like looking for a job. Headhunters and employers don’t just find you. If you take the same attitude towards your love life, which hopefully has a longer shelf-life than a job, you may come out a winner.

Where’s Julie – P. S. Arts – We Love You
Nov 21st
I truly felt like a kid in a candy store at the P.S. Arts Express Yourself annual arts festival. Having my photo taken with the iconic Target puppy dog, complete with a red-painted bullet eye, nibbling on cupcakes and caramel apples, and seeing some of the most creative arts projects for children to enjoy was a treat for those in attendance.
For 14 years, parents, kids, and big kids at heart throughout California wait for the Express Yourself celebration. The annual creative arts fair and family day was held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, which was recreated like a circus event with art projects galore.
Laurie David, one of the founders of the P.S. Arts gala shared her passion for bringing arts back into the school systems. “I can’t imagine what like would be like without the arts,” was repeated by most of those in attendance. Sure, I remember going to art class as a child growing up while attending public school. It was one of my favorites.
Unfortunately, statewide budgets have eliminated the arts from most of the school systems. With 50 schools benefitting from this organization, kids can have the creativity they need to grow and flourish.
California celebrities in attendance with their kids included Debbie Mazur, Marcia Cross, Camryn Manheim, Lisa Kudrow, and Lisa Rinna.
Thank you to the entertainment community of Los Angeles, who joined together to make sure that the children in selected schools throughout Los Angeles won’t live an art-free life.

How to Get Your Online Dating Profile Noticed
Nov 18th
In my series of online dating advice videos on GenConnect.com, I tell singles not to cancel their Internet dating membership before trying some of these tips:
It’s important for women to realize that it’s okay to actually initiate contact with a man. I have a saying, don’t wait, initiate. I truly mean it because a man sometimes will be flattered when he sees your email in his inbox.
Log on in the morning and keep your account open all day. By the time you come home for dinner you might have quite a few emails there. You might be surprised.
Well, it’s no secret that men love to gravitate to the new fresh face. Log on to your profile, and just tweak a few sentences here and there. Or, if you’ve recently done something interesting, add it to your profile to have it raise up to the top of the list.
Singles need to look at online dating as an opportunity to expand your social and business network. So, I always say cast a very wide net. You just never know who you might meet, who could help you, or maybe you’ll just make a new friend along the way.
