Reading Room: Why He Disappeared – Dating Advice

Aug 17th

My friend and fellow dating coach and author Evan Marc Katz has written a terrific book that I highly recommend. If you ever had a relationship that you thought was going well, and it just abruptly ended without an explanation, Why He Disappeared: The Smart, Strong Successful Woman’s Guide to Understanding Men and Keeping the Right One Hooked Forever is the book for you.

Personally, I had experienced this frustrating and hurtful feeling during my dating days. Evan’s insight from the male perspective will help you understand directly why this has happened. He’ll also provide you with some insight and no nonsense life-lessons that you can take with you as you move forward into your next relationship.

From time-to-time, I will recommend relationship authors and dating experts who I believe have the same values and perspectives as my own. I really believe in Evan’s material the way I believe in my own.

Along with his eBook and a 2-hour audio version of the same material, you’ll learn the main reasons that men don’t follow through with you. Evan’s summer promotion with selected bonuses is available only from August 17-24, 2010.

The Carrie Diaries

Jun 8th

Cyber-Dating Expert Reading Room

I was happy to see that Candace Bushnell released a book just a month before the Sex and the City 2 film. In The Carrie Diaries, Bushnell shares with us what life was like for Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school.

You’ll read about the about Carrie’s first glimpse in becoming a writer, see how her friendships developed, and get a glimpse about her life pre-SATC.

Although the book is targeted to young adults, fans of Sex and the City of all ages will enjoy hearing about the earlier years in the life of Carrie Bradshaw. It’s a great summer read and I’m please to add it to the Cyber-Dating Expert Reading Room.

He’s Just Not Your Type (And That’s a Good Thing)

Apr 27th

Today my friend and fellow dating and relationship author, Andrea Syrtash is celebrating. It’s the release date for her new book, He’s Just Not Your Type (and that’s a good thing): How to Find Love Where You Least Expect It, and we’re joining in on the festivities.

Last week, we were treated to a sneak peek of the book on Ask the Cyber-Dating Expert Radio Show, and it’s with great delight that I am adding this book to the Cyber-Dating Expert Reading Room as a recommended read.

Andrea’s dating and relationship advice comes from an authentic point of view. Her values are completely in line with what we talk about at Cyber-Dating Expert. She uses her own personal story of how her husband Michael, who was not her type. Now, she is happily married and discusses with great enthusiasm about the benefits of dating and mating with a man you originally thought was not your type.

Andrea calls these men the NTs. NTs come in a few flavors including:

  • DNT – Departure Non-Type
  • SNT – Superficial Non-Type
  • CNT – Circumstantial Non-Type

She also has an appendix that includes online dating dos and don’ts.

Flirtexting – How to Text Your Way Into His Heart

Mar 16th

Flirteting

After a fun and fabulous interview with authors Debra Goldstein and Olivia Baniuszewicz on Ask the Cyber-Dating Expert Radio Show, I’m pleased to add their dating advice book, Flirtexting: How to Text Your Way to His Heart to the Cyber-Dating Expert Reading Room.

Their mantra in the book is, “We date,  therefore we text.” Flirtexting, according to the two, has become the new “first step” in dating.

Deb and Liv describe Flirtexting as “Any text message sent between you and a boy you would like to date or are currently dating (i.e., someone you would like to make out with or are currently making out with). These texts are normally comprised of the flirty, witty banter that you throw back and forth with each other that typically leads to a date and, if you’re lucky, then some.”

If you aren’t sure who should make the first move in the electronic generation, then this book is for you. You’ll learn about some fun and flirty ways to communicate with the opposite sex.

Some questions you’ll get answered include:

  • Should a woman send a text message to a man to thank him after a date?
  • What are the benefits of texting while dating?
  • What are the do’s and don’ts of texting
  • What is sexting and should you press the send button?

You’ll also find out which of the two authors actually was asked to the prom via text message.

It’s a fun and easy book to read and fits in nicely with our theme of dating in a Web 2.0 World.

Act Like a Lady – Think Like a Man

Aug 25th

steveharveybook

It’s the number one relationship book online and in the bookstores. He’s been on Oprah. He’s just been named a special correspondent on parenting and relationships for Good Morning America. It’s been out since the beginning of the year, and it just made it into the Cyber-Dating Expert Reading Room.

You may be wondering, what took it so long? When ABC announced last week that Harvey would be joining the team, I finally went out and purchased his best-selling book.

You may have already read the book. But if you have not, I recommend Steve Harvey’s book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment for all the women who really want to know how men think.

It’s a simple book with a basic no brainer approach to understanding the male species. Harvey has his 90-day probationary rule and advises women not to “put out” before that time. He says you are worth the wait. He calls it the “cookie.”

The book helps women get into the mind-set of a man by listing three important facts on how a man looks at himself.

  • Who he is
  • What he does
  • How much money he makes

Harvey also adds three things that every man needs in a relationship from a woman.

  • Support
  • Loyalty
  • The “Cookie”

I call the “cookie” dessert. From a male’s standpoint, it’s the reward for his hard-working dollars. If a woman isn’t providing sex to her man, Harvey claims he WILL go elsewhere. It’s a simple tough-love formula and a terrific book.
