My friend and I subscribed to one of the matching sites. We have emails and winks, but some guys email a couple times and quit. We think guys don’t want to work hard to find a woman anymore, because some ladies are vey easy for them.

Thank you for your comment. There is no exact right number, but if you’re lucky enough to feel you have a connection with someone after a few dates, then take the time to pursue that relationship. It doesn’t mean you have to take down your profile, but it shows your level of interest. Some say you need to keep dating three people until a man asks for a commitment. I say follow your heart and develop the friendship part of the relationship. In time, you’ll know if it’s going in the right direction.

Breaking up on facebook is just a lame thing to do. It’s probably better to just keep your relationship status a private thing and not show it off for the whole world to see.

I learned my lesson when some friends at uni found out about my breakup from Facebook. “Why didn’t you tell us?” obviously because I don’t want to talk about it. Never again!

For times when I’ve been in communication with more than two guys–something that can, but rarely does, happen with online dating I have used a spreadsheet. It was more for fun than anything else and had a column for facts about the guy, when we talked, his photo and my thoughts. If we had a date planned, etc. It was a way for me to keep straight on little details. I called it my date-a-base (though I think I borrowed that name).
What I found a little disturbing about the man in the story was the extreme age differences and the fact that he was apparently using a wide range of sites, usernames and different photos. One can only hope he was being upfront in all of those.
