Peril of the Week – Don’t Meet Me on the Slopes

skiierI recently met a woman who told me about a cyber-date with a man she met on Craigslist who advertised himself as, “One in a Million.” After speaking on the phone the two agreed to meet at an outdoor cafe. The man told her of his love for travel and especially his passion for skiing. She told him that she had never gone skiing before and he said he’d be happy to give her lessons on the slopes.

When the menu arrived,  she ordered the lunch special of ravioli with spinach. He told her he was not hungry. Suddenly the conversation turned cold, he seemed distracted, and informed her that he needed to step out to make a phone call.  When he never returned, she realized that he stepped out permanently in search of a ski bunny to accompany him on the slopes. Disappointed and a bit embarrassed after waiting for fifteen minutes alone at the table, she sadly walked home in her high heels.
