Cyber Love Links – The Week’s Best Links for Love
It’s time to share our favorite links to love, when you’re in the mood for love.
The last week in January was filled with tweets and articles on love in anticipation for the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day.
Here are some of our top picks this week.
We were busy watching and tweeting from the Katie Show on the segment on ‘Catfishing.’ Her tips in How to Protect Yourself From Online Dating Scams taught us about a site, SpyDialer.com. Yes, you can type in your date’s cell phone number and it will anonymously play back his or her outgoing message. Smart or creepy? We’d like your opinion.
On Dr. Phil, he interviewed the man behind the Manti Te’o scam, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Tuiasosopo admitted being secretly in love with the Notre Dame football player. USA Today covered the story as it unfolded.
On a lighter side, our friends at Zoosk released their 3rd Annual Football Survey in time for the Super Bowl. Want to know which coaching brother ranked highest in the romance department by Zooskers?
We loved the article on GalTime, 7 Signs He’s the Right Guy to Be Your Valentine’s Date. If you’re on the fence, it’s a must-read. On Mashable, we got a chuckle out of Ask Siri to Buy Your Next Movie Tickets. It’s a great idea for date night.
POF just announced their 6 Finalists for their $100,000 wedding contest. You can vote for your favorite couple now through February 7th.
In the gratitude department, where do we begin?
Our article 5 Valentine’s Date Ideas to Enjoy Together is on the home page of eHarmony Advice. We also shared our tips on 5 Ways to Find a Date for Valentine’s Day on DatingAdvice.com. On Huffington Post, my article The Perils and Joys of Online Dating, gives a healthy balance to help you find love online safely.
Speaking of safety, it’s a priority here at Cyber-Dating Expert Headquarters, so I was thrilled to be invited to be the online dating expert on the Dr. Drew Show on HLN/CNN. Here’s a peek at part of the segment. Share it with your loved ones and trust your intuition. Thanks for Kim Calvert at Singular City for featuring this as their video pick of the week.
A huge thank you to DatingAdvice.com for putting me at the top of the list in their Top 10 Online Dating Experts, released this week. What an honor and joy to share the list with friends and other love experts who try to make a difference in the digital world.
Finally, thanks to the Boston Globe for quoting me in their article, Stories of love, deception have long been entwined.
We’re busy as digital bees gearing up for Valentine’s Day with a few surprise and exciting announcements to come.
Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam.

Cyber Love Links
In time for the weekend, we’re sharing our favorite articles and tweets this week, along with a few thanks to our special friends for including us in their stories.
Our favorite quote this week was, “Don’t be a woman who needs a man. Be a woman a man needs.” We thought it was worth sharing.
A special thank you to AARP who featured our advice for dating safely online, in Spanish. We had a blast using Google.com/translate to find the title of, Meet Your Next Love Online, Safely. The timing was perfect as it was in conjunction with MTV’s premiere of the TV show, Catfish. We know many people lie in their online dating profiles, but some take it even further. In Catfish, a woman thought she was dating a hot male model, only to find out in person that her online beau was actually a woman who had been bullied in school.
When I first wrote The Perils of Cyber-Dating: Confessions of a Hopeful Romantic Looking for Love Online, I had fallen for a handsome attorney from across the country. After 5 hours of communicating every day for three months, we finally met in person. Not only was he not recognizable, but he had a wife at home who didn’t know about his double-identity. When I figured out the truth, he removed his profile and created a new one under a new user name. Not everyone lies and there are many stories in our Cyber Love Story of the Week that we enjoy sharing. So do remember to practice your online dating safety rules and know that online dating sites take the safety of their members seriously. If you meet someone deceptive, report them to the dating site.
The lessons we’ll learn from Catfish and other sharing their stories is to trust your intuition, take your time, and meet as soon as possible in-real-life, so you don’t become digital pen-pals and get your heart broken. A SKYPE date for a long-distance relationship will hopefully help you see the object of your digital affection sooner, rather than later. Future episodes will air on Mondays at 11pm/ET, 10pm/CT.
Other stories we loved this week included MYAKA’s INFOGRAPHIC called A Single Woman Enters the Bar. From having an exit strategy to did they ask for your number, you’ll enjoy this dating advice and may recognize a type or two.
Our friends at eHarmony contributed a guest post this week called, Filter and Flirt: How to Find Love Online. They’re having another Free Weekend through Monday and calling it Ready, Set Love! Click here to sign up to find a date for the holidays. On Buzzfeed, Amy Odell writes about Tyra Banks giving online dating advice to create the perfect profile photo. Our friend Alan Roger Currie wrote about his take on the General Petraeus affair on Examiner.com and Match Happen magazine featured an article, Online Daters Reveal Why They Got in Touch, that we really enjoyed.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam.

Cyber Love Links – Links to Love When You’re in the Mood for Love
Happy Friday. It’s time for our weekend wrap up of Cyber Love Links.
We’re always so grateful to thank those who have featured us or mentioned our dating advice, but also love sharing some of our favorite tweets and stories on the web for your reading pleasure.
A huge thank you to Men’s Fitness, where we were quoted in two stories this week, 10 Little Ways to Kill Your Online Dating Game from Meredith Bogas and Answers from a Hot Girl: Do Women Really Want Chivalry? from our friend Jenna Birch. We say yes! Chivalry is still alive and well, so men we love it when you stand out from the most and do open the door for us. Thank you to Best Dating Sites for listing @JulieSpira as one of the Top Experts on Dating and Relationship Advice on Twitter.
Worried about online dating safety? So are we. Thank you to NBC News in Raleigh who did an in-depth story and including our safety tips called An Online Dating Horror Story. We’re not here to scare you, but are committed to helping you spot the red flags to enjoy your online dating journey. Gratitude to Prevention magazine for being featured in Text Mistakes You’re Making. How to Improve Your Text Life With These 6 Tips.
On Twitter, our friends at Mashable just posted Four Steps for Using Your Mobile Device to Jumpstart Your Love Life. So grab your lipstick and change your location-based-options and let us know how you like it. We also retweeted Ask Men’s video on Long Distance Relationships. Yes, they can be tough, but you can keep the spark alive through texting, tweeting, and Skyping so absence will make the heart grown fonder instead of making it go wander.
Our friend Natasha Burton wrote a terrific post on iVillage, Dating Online? Watch Out For These Red Flags to Avoid Distasters. On eHarmony Advice, we enjoyed, In Online Dating: Who Should Make the First Move? Ladies, men do love a little nudge here and there.
Finally, one of our favorite article was featured in the Los Angeles Times, The Dating Game’s Rebooting Call, featuring new fun niche dating sites.
Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam.

For your reading pleasure, it’s time to pay digital homage and share our favorite dating tweets and links for the week, with a few thank you’s tossed in as well.
On Huffington Post Women, they posted their top tweets of the week, including one from @TracyClarkFlory: My boyfriend: “My mom looked you up on the Internet.” #scarysentences. Yes it’s true. Your mother cares, but to Google your date for you?
My friend Dr. Terri Orbuch was quoted on the Wall Street Journal in The 5 Lessons Divorced People Learn About Marriage. Great for those starting over again.

We shared Mobile Dia’s “5 Apps for the Romantically Challenged” and The Toronto Sun’s article, “Online Dating Means e-mail Overload for Women.” My pal Jennifer at Bad Online Dates shared a guest post from Liz at We Love Dates, “What to Do if You’re in Love With More Than One Man.” It’s a must-read so you don’t end up with the wrong guy or alone from a juggling act that went south.
For the gratitude section of Cyber Love Links, a huge thank you to The Ricki Lake Show for sharing my tweet on “Who Should Follow Up After a First Date?” and to We Love Dates for retweeting, “To Wink, or Not to Wink.” I’d also like to thank Damona for having me as a guest on “Dates & Mates with Dear Mrs. D” this week. They’ll be posting the link on Monday and we’ll be sure to share it with you.
It seems everyone loves dating shows these days. I adored Faye Brennan’s interview on YourTango with Alex Miranda, host of the new dating show ’3.’ Speaking of dating shows, if you’re in Los Angeles and would like to be on a new Bravo TV show, they’ll be casting single online daters at the Viceroy Hotel on Monday night. I’ll be there as well, so say hello and RSVP on Facebook.
Our favorite quote of the week was, “A good life is when you smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realize how blessed you are for what you have.”
Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam.

Cyber Love Links – Mother’s Day Edition
It’s Mother’s Day weekend and May has also been proclaimed Romance Month, so there’s no shortage of fabulous stories about dating, love and romance on the web and on Twitter.
Let’s start with overwhelming amount of gratitude for all the media mentions this week. Monday started out with a terrific TV promo shoot for the upcoming Ricki Lake Show. I was honored to participate along with others in the Friends of Ricki community. Here’s a sneak peek of a hug from Ricki on location posted on Twitter.
On Tuesday, Dr. Drew Pinsky featured a segment on MissTravel.com and asked me to chime in with my thoughts on the subject. Cyber Love Links
It’s a beautiful spring weekend and time to share some of our favorite stories about dating, love and romance from around the web and on Twitter with you.
First of all, we’d like to thank Ithaca College for the terrific article in their IC View magazine that is sent out to all alumni. The story, Finding Love Online featured my dating advice and tips for singles on the dating scene. Many thanks to our friends at Sparkology for including us in their Dating Experts column in, “How to Politely Say You’re Not Interested.”
My two cents worth:
More often-than-not, online messages are ignored. Don’t start humming to the Nick Lowe song, “You’ve Got to be Cruel to be Kind” if you decide to respond. Say thank you, but add that you don’t feel you have enough in common to pursue a relationship, or let them know if they’re out of your geographic location or age range.
Of course the hot romantic news of the week was the Friday the 13th announcement of Brad and Angelina’s engagement. There’s no shortage of stories about the ring, but our favorites include CBS News who reports that Brad worked on the engagement ring for a year and Vanity Fair who announced that the famous ring now has an agent.
USA Today interviewed Steve Harvey, author of Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, which we had featured in our Reading Room. In this article, the cast dished dating advice, both from the film and how they handle love in the real world. Cosmo posted 10 Fun First Date Ideas He’ll Love. Our favorite was sneaking into a matinee. Our friend Natasha Burton posted on Huffington Post Weddings: Should You Follow Your Nose — Not Your Heart–To Find Love. Would you go to a Pheromone Party to find love at first sniff? See what Natasha has to say on the subject.
YourTango reported on Chris Noth’s (aka Mr. Big) Hawaiian wedding bells to his long-time girlfriend Tara Wilson. Yes, there can be happy ending for a 10-year relationship. Sometimes patience is a virtue.
Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam.

Cyber Love Links – Links to Love When You’re in the Mood for Love
We hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend. It’s time to share our favorite stories shared on Twitter and on our site this week.
A timely post from our friends at YourTango answers the question that mystifies many as to when is the right time to introduce your new GF or BF to your family. Is it the Right Time to Bring Him Home for Easter or Passover? They were kind enough to include our recent video, What is Mobile Dating? at the end of the holiday post.
In her Love & Gratitude column, Rita Watson shared her inspiration on Psychology Today with Come to the Table of Love: An Easter and Passover Tradition.
Our friends at Zoosk announced their new Couples Profiles where you can continue sharing your love milestones on a combined profile. Our favorite Infographic this week comes from FreeDating.co.uk on Dating in a Virtual World. Find out if gentlemen prefer blondes and who falls in love at first sight the most.
Still nervous about online dating? Apparently Sinead O’Connor is looking for love online. Her profile is on Plenty of Fish and we wrote about celebrities who have joined online dating sites. Chemistry.com released their latest Top 10 Cities Survey that was a hot tweet with results that will increase or decrease your passion, depending on where you live.
Over at Glamour.com, we fell in digital love with this story, 10 Stellar Responses to Use the Next Time Some Rude Person Asks, “Why Are You Still Single?
Our favorite Quote of the Day came from BFFTips.com, ”If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn’t, nothing will make him stay.”
