It was a sweet and enchanting evening at the Opening Night Festivities of the LA Opera’s original production of Mozart’s, The Magic Flute.

Conducted by John Conlon, Musical Director of the LA Opera, The Magic Flute takes place in an imaginary ancient Egypt.  We follow the young prince, Tamino as he is being chased by a serpent. Conlon is known as one of the world’s best conductors, and we are lucky to have him as our Music Director at the LA Opera.

Prior to the performance, guests were treated to an intimate interview of Conlon by Duff Murphy, radio show host of the program “Opera Show” which can heard on Saturday mornings on KUSC.  It was both enjoyable to hear the conductor’s views on this fairy tale production as well as be enriched by the performance itself.
