Cyber Dating Tips for Fathers Day – Dating Advice

The month of June is filled with a lot of emotions for singles. There is the flurry and excitement of June Brides, with a guest list that may include an invite for a “plus one.” There is also the day where we honor all dads, both single and married.

Father’s Day this year is being held on June 20th. As a recent radio show guest on A Dad’s Point of View, I talked with show host, Bruce Sallan about single parent dating and when to introduce your children into the picture. I’ll be a guest on the show again this Thursday, June 10th at 11:45 am, to continue the discussion as we get closer to Father’s Day.

In the meantime, if you are a single dad or are dating a father, ?here are some of my suggestions to help make Father’s Day memorable for both your children and for yourself.

Cyber-Dating Tip #1. Join a niche online dating site for single parents. Two of my favorites are SingleParentMeet.com and SingleParentMatch.com. Narrow down your search on your current online dating site to specifically look for a partner who has children, or one who is interested in meeting someone with kids.

Cyber-Dating Tip #2. If you are dating someone you met online, Father’s Day isn’t the day to start blending the families. It’s a sacred day for the father and child to embrace on their own. Honor it, offer suggestions for Father’s Day outings, and compare notes with your date later on in the evening or on the following day.

Cyber-Dating Tip #3. If your children have met the person you are dating, ask them how they feel about including them on Father’s Day. Give them an option of spending the day alone with you or sharing it with a larger crowd.

Cyber-Dating Tip #4. If your dad or grandfather is single, wrap up a gift certificate to an online dating site for them as a gift. Go online together and look at searches. Find a way to make the whole family a lot happier.

Cyber-Dating Tip #5. If you just started dating a single father that you met online, or offline for that matter, honor his day by sending him a simple gift. Anything from an e-card, to a music CD, to a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant, will show him that you care without scaring him away.

On a personal note, as someone who dated a man for 7 years with children, although I didn’t have children of my own, I played a big role in their life. When it came time for me to date again, I specifically wanted to meet someone with children. I wanted to have a bigger family and to contribute in a positive way to the growth of children. I searched for men with children while looking for love online. Make sure you discuss with your dates how they feel about children and that your values are in sync. Blending families can be exciting, but challenging.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads, grandfather’s, uncles, brother’s, son’s, and the male mentors of the world.
