Who’s Getting the Most Right Swipes on Tinder?

Tinder Right Swipes 2018
Tinder, the swiping sensation in mobile dating apps has released their list of the top 15 most popular jobs that singles are swiping right to in 2018.

With such a small amount of digital real estate available for your mobile dating app profile, including your job is a must to determine attraction from a potential match.

As reported in Business Insider, the 2018 list includes Registered Nurse for women, and Interior Designer for men on top.

The professions that appeared in both sexes include selection a College/Graduate Student, Founder/Entrepreneur, and a Lawyer.

I’ve often thought that dating a firefighter was a sexy selection, while dating a female masseuse seemed romantic, and Tinder verifies those to be true.

Julie Spira – ABC News – Valentine’s Survival Guide

With Valentine’s Day just a week away, I sat down with ABC-7’s Coleen Sullivan and Ellen Leyva with a Valentine’s Survival Guide to get you to and through the most romantic day of the year.

Can you find love online in time for Valentine’s Day?

I say yes! With the convenience of your mobile phone, we’ll have you chatting and dating in a digital split second.

Here are 10 Tips to Help You Survive Valentine’s Day With a Hug and a Smile

  • Sign up for a Mobile Dating AppUse your Facebook photos to create a new profile and say “love is in the air.” Have a friend or a dating coach like myself help you with your profile.

  • Become a serial dater – This is the time I give you permission to date up a storm. Schedule one date a day until Valentine’s Day. Double-down and schedule two dates a day, where one will surely rise to the top and be worthy of a second date.

  • Use Premium Features – Match shows you peak times, where their Top Spot feature will show your profile to get the most visibility for just a few hours. OkCupid’s Boost feature will do the same for 15 minutes.

  • Give your date a card – A hand signed card or a love note will warm his or her heart for all dating stages.

  • Don’t forget Flowers Two billion dollars will be spent on Valentine’s Day flowers this year. Bring one long-stemmed rose or a dozen tulips to have the same effect, while not breaking the bank.

  • Say ‘I Love You’ – If you’re relationship is moving forward, there’s no better time to profess your love than on Valentine’s Day.

  • Choose In-Room Dining or Cook a Meal Together – If you’ve waited too long to make a reservation at his or her favorite place, pick up some prepared meals at the grocery store, or ingredients for a spicy romantic dinner. Remember to bring candles.

  • The gift of time – Valentine’s Day is about spending quality time together, and there’s not better gift than just being together.

  • Valentine’s Breakups – It’s not a great idea, but if your relationship has been sliding downhill since the past holiday season, have a talk with your significant other, sooner rather than later. Valentine’s Day can be filled with pressure, so be kind about it and if you’re going to call it quits, do so in person, and not on the phone, email, or in a text message.

  • Singles Awareness Day is on February 15th – If you’re not in the mood to find a Valentine and hate the holiday, there’s no need to fret. The day after will be a holiday to celebrate your single status.

Don’t let the pressure get to you about Valentine’s Day. Some people are still paying off their credit cards from December gift giving. A study shows that 54% plan to spend less than $100 and only 10% of singles spend over $250 on Valentine’s Day.

A survey from OneHourTranslation.com of over 4000 people around the world, showed that 31% plan to purchase their gifts online this year, so there’s still time to send something romantic to your Valentine or digital crush.

Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam.

Get Ready for Dating Sunday

Dating Sunday

It’s time for a digital facelift and makeover on your online dating profile as Dating Sunday will be here in a digital split second.

The world’s largest digital dating party starts on New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1st and it will be the busiest day of the year for online dating for some dating sites. Are ready for the ride?

Every year, the Sunday after New Year’s is a reflective time for singles. Perhaps you were flying solo on New Year’s or were in a relationship that ran it’s course.

Either way, it’s time for a new beginning and the huge amount of new memberships to online dating sites will happen starting the day after New Year’s.

PlentyofFish Has the Most Signups on January 1st

Our friends over at PlentyOfFish tell us that their busiest day of the year will be on Sunday, January 1st around 2:00pm.  POF expects signups expected to reach an extraordinary 110,546, a 48% increase above the average daily rate in 2016.

POF saw over 18 million first time signups during 2016, with a rising trend.

Yes indeed, everyone will be looking for love in 2017.

Match Celebrates Dating Sunday on January 8th

In 2017, Dating Sunday will be the busiest day for Match and the second busiest day of the year for POF.

Match expects 24% more signups to occur on December 8th around  8:52pm/ET.  PlentyOfFish expects 103,910 signups on January 8th, almost as many as on New Year’s Day.

Yes indeed, everyone will be looking for love in 2017.

At Cyber-Dating Expert, our phone has been ringing and the text messages have been flying. We know that it’s peak season now through Valentine’s Day, so grab your smartphone and download the latest mobile dating apps and get ready to fill your date card!

Here are 5 reasons why January 1st and 8th are the busiest days of the year for digital dating.

Sunday is the most active day.

All year round at the end of the weekend on Sunday nights, it’s the busiest time for singles logging into dating sites. If your weekend date was so-so (or you were dateless), logging on to chat, flirt, and browse means opportunities to fill up your date card and start the week anew are plentiful. Multiply this big time with the start of a New Year, and you’ll see the activity soar.

A disappointing holiday can make you feel blue.

Emotions around Christmastime and New Year’s are at an all-time high if you’re single. Watching your friends post lovey-dovey shots on Facebook and Instagram or change their status to “In a Relationship” or “Engaged” can hit a nerve, big-time. It’s enough to make you scream, “Bah, humbug” and turn off both your computer and phone to unplug, but just temporarily.

Holiday breakups are high.

Some people stay in dead-end relationships so they won’t be alone through the holidays. It’s a dreadful feeling to know that you’re with someone you can’t see yourself going the distance with long-term. Thoughts of another New Year’s Eve with that feeling isn’t something you’ll want to repeat. Often, couples will break up right after the New Year, or even before Christmas, in order to not to go through another holiday with the wrong person. It’s normal for relationships to run their course, but when it happens at the holidays, it brings a whole new group of fabulous singles to the dating party at the first of the year. There’s a reason they say, “Out with the old, in with the new” at New Year’s.

If you find yourself in the middle of a break up, read my article on The Huffington Post, How to Break Up Gracefully.

New Year’s resolutions include finding love.

New Year’s Day is on a Sunday this year. Most people also have Monday off due to the holiday. It’s the perfect time to reflect about the past year and come up with a list of goals for 2017. After watching football games and going to New Year’s Day parties solo, singles often think about new beginnings. From joining a gym to going on a diet, the list often includes finding someone to have a meaningful relationship with.

The squeaky wheel gets the digital love deal.

During peak dating season, Match reports that about 50 million messages are sent and 1 million dates are taking place. Think about it. Wouldn’t you be happy to receive at least 10 of those emails from someone you could have chemistry with? Rather than sitting back and waiting for your inbox to fill up, remember that the more engaged you are, the greater chance you’ll have to fill up your date card. That means logging on several times a day so your profile stays active, viewing your daily matches every day and liking and messaging other members to start a convo, right now.

Wishing you much love and joy in cyberspace, or wherever you may roam. xo

Puppy Love: Dating Sites Match Pet Lovers

Puppy Love“And the called it puppy love.”

You might remember that song from the Donny Osmond hit. There’s some truth to the fact that puppy love exists in your hearts and in your homes.

When it comes to dating, “niche” online dating sites and mobile apps will help pet lovers find other pet lovers, to make a marriage made in pet heaven.

In a Match survey, they found that singles love pets, with 64% saying they own a pet.

In this television interview, I shared my thoughts on dating sites for pet lovers.

As a dating expert and coach who has been helping singles find love online for over 20 years, I’ve seen first hand how online dating has changed with these new niche dating sites. I’m a big proponent of pet themed sites.

“Niche dating sites such as Date my Pet and Pet People Meet are now available to singles.”

“When we’re looking at blending a family, guess what, you’re blending your pets as well.”

As a dating ice-breaker, I suggested a pet-themed date for dog and cat owners.

“I love having dates at dog parks. I think it’s just a very relaxing way to get to know someone without any pressure. It’s like the coffee date, only you’re bringing your pet.”

In my book, The Perils of Cyber-Dating: Confessions of a Hopeful Romantic Looking for Love Online, in Chapter 14,  I wrote about ‘The Boy Next Door.” He had a rescue dog, who joined his dates for dinner in the dining room every night. It was important for this man to see if his dog and his date were compatible. This is common, as pet lovers might take their dogs or cats on vacation with them.

If you are allergic to cats or dogs, I highly recommend you mention it in your online dating profiles. However, don’t post a primary shot with your pets. Leave those to secondary photos in your mobile dating or Internet dating profiles.

Disney Lovers – MouseMingle Will Help You Find Your Match

MouseMingle.comJust in time for the holidays, along with a dream trip to Disneyland, if you’re single and love EVERYTHING Disney, this new online dating site, MouseMingle might bring you a date or a jingle or two.

Their tag line is, “Find Your Mickey or Minnie.”

According to Los Angeles magazine, MouseMingle a niche dating site which launched on December 1st., was created by Culver City resident, Dave Tavres, for people obsessed with all things Disney.

Tavres tells LA mag writer Chris Nichols, “Niche dating sites are more common these days. “There’s a dating site for pot lovers and JDate for Jewish people. The first time I saw Farmers Only I thought it was a Saturday Night Live sketch.”

Signing up for MouseMingle is simple and it’s free to view profile and photos. Communicating with potential matches will cost $12.55/month. The 55 cents represents the year that Disneyland first opened.

Disney fans can share their passions of their favorite rides, characters, films and more with each other.

Of course, scheduling a date to a Disney theme park or renting a Disney movie would be logical date ideas for MouseMingle members.

As a dating expert, I have always recommended that singles join at least two, if not three online dating sites. Niche dating sites have been growing in popularity over the past several years. To meet like-minded singles, adding a niche dating site to your dating docket will increase your chances of meeting someone special.

Countdown to Valentine’s Day – Can You Find a Date Online?

Valentine's Dating Dos and Don'tsWith Valentine’s Day just a month away, singles are thinking about red hearts and online dating sites are seeing record activity.

According to CNN, some online dating sites have surged by up to 350% in the past two months, so singles looking for love online can have more choices to find a date or mate for the holiday season.

So how can you ramp up your search in the next 30 days?

Here are 5 tips that will shorten the search so you can ride into the digital sunset together.

1. Become a Social Dater. If you?re constantly updating your status on Facebook and posting new photos on Instagram, Pinterest, and Flickr, go ahead and share some of those on your online dating profile as well. Toss out the outdated blurry photos, group shots, and the arm hanging over your shoulder and replace them with newer photos that reflect who you are today. Remember to post a caption under the photos and add the date they were taken, so your potential suitors can see there’s truth-in-advertising

2. Don’t Wait, Initiate. I know The Rules book says a woman should never ever contact a man, but I disagree with this one. There’s a fine line between chasing a guy and playing hard-to-get. Playing the waiting game won’t fill your date card. Sure if you call a guy all the time, you might be considered needy, but most men are so frustrated with writing to women online who never respond. Your quick introduction email will be refreshing to him. Send a flirt, wink, or a nudge, if you?d like to subtly get his attention. Rate his profile or let him know you’ve viewed it, so he can see you’re interested.

3. Flirt on Facebook. Finding love on the world’s largest social network will expand your search. Facebook reported that 40.5% of their members changed their relationship status in 2012 to ‘Single,’ as compared to 29.2% who changed their status to ‘In a Relationship.’ Check out Facebook chat and see if someone who captures your eye is online and start the conversation. Go ahead an Poke someone and see if it’s returned like a digital boomerang.

4. Log on Daily. If you keep your online dating profile hidden with the fear that you’ll look desperate, the result is you just won’t get found as easily. Change your settings to being visible while logged on, so you can show up higher in a search. Take it one step further and turn on the chat and instant message feature. It’s time to start flirting online.

5. Practice the Magic of 5. If you’d go on a few job interviews every day to find your dream position, shouldn’t you do the same with your personal life? Go ahead and book five dates a week. Sound overwhelming? Not really. Schedule two coffee dates, one lunch date, and two dates for drinks to fill your calendar with potential male suitors. By the weekend, you should have date number two on your calendar. Even if you don’t meet ‘the one,’ you’ll be expanding your social network. I call it casting a wide net. You never know if a party invitation will follow.

Practice these five tips from now until Valentine’s Day and look forward to the possibility of finding love online.
